To ensure the efficiency of machining and the quality of the finished products, four principles must be followed during the machining process.
1. Datum First:
When machining a product with mechanical equipment, a datum surface must be established to serve as a positioning reference for subsequent operations. Once the datum surface is determined, it should be machined first.
2. Divide the Machining Stages:
During the machining process, different levels of processing are required depending on the product specifications. The degree of machining must be clearly divided. If the precision requirement is not high, a simple rough machining stage is sufficient. As the precision requirements become more stringent, subsequent semi-finishing and finishing stages are necessary.
3. Surfaces Before Holes:
For workpieces such as brackets, which require both surface machining and hole machining, machining the surfaces before the holes helps minimize dimensional errors in the holes.
4. Finishing Operations:
This machining principle generally involves processes such as grinding and polishing, which are typically carried out after the product's structure has been fully completed.
